Picking Up Your Runner Number and Chip

Training is the first part of the equation. Registering is the second part, and getting your Runner Number and Chip is the third!

Your bib #'s have been emailed as a part of your email confirmation (via clicking and opening the waiver portion).

Don't have an email address? All runner lists with bib#'s will be posted at the Subway Commit to Fit Expo for participant lookup prior to entering the kit pickup area.

All participants should plan to pick up their Runner Numbers and Chips at the 2013 Subway Commit to Fit Expo at the Ivestors Group Athletic Centre on the campus of the University of Manitoba. Hours are as follows:

  • Friday, June 14 - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 15 - 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Relay Team Packages

Please designate ONE team member to pickup your team's package. The team captain will receive a confirmation email on June 13th with the team bib#. Event and bib # lists will be posted at our Expo for easy lookup. Please ensure they know the exact TEAM NAME and all team members are aware of who is picking up the package. This package contains: timing bib belt, all 5 bibs, 5 participant handbooks, pins etc. The timing belt must be returned at the finish line.

Note:

- Runner numbers/kits will NOT be mailed out to entrants and there will be No Race Day Kit Pickup this year. "Out of town" participants may pick up their packages Saturday June 15 at the Investors Group Athletic Centre until 6 pm. (Chip check is only available until 5 pm.)

- Relay team packages will not be given out to teams who have not fully completed their online registration before June 10, 2013.

Getting Your Runner Number Kit on Time

I am planning to arrive in Winnipeg on Saturday, just before the race. Will I be able to pick up my race packet in time?
Packet pickup will be available for "out of town" participants until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. (Note chip check ends at 5 pm.) We do not offer race-day number pickup, and we do not mail packets. The 2013 Subway Commit to FIt Expo will be held at the Investors Group Athletic Centre, University of Manitoba. If you can't get to the Expo on time, check out the next item, and plan ahead!

Can a friend pick my number up for me?
Yes. While we prefer that each entrant pick up his or her own number in person, we do allow for a friend to pick up your package, at the Manitoba Marathon Expo. Your friend will be required to either have your registration confirmation or will have to look up your bib # and fill in a special pink kit sign out card prior to entering the Expo floor. The Manitoba Marathon keeps records of these pick-ups and will not take responsibility for race packets that go astray, after they have been picked up.

Your Runner Number on Race Day

My friend in the Super Run has a runner number with a different colour and Start Time than me. Can we start together?
Yes, Super Run entrants who are assigned to different waves or colors but wish to start together may do so. Choose the later of your assigned two waves, and start with that wave. You will both get accurate finishing times, based on when you and your Chip cross the Start and Finish mats.

I'm running the Full Marathon (or Half Marathon). Can I also run the first leg of the Relay? What bibs will I wear?
Yes, you can run the first relay leg, as the first Relay Exchange Station comes up before the course splits for the Marathon and Half Marathon events. You will have to register twice: in your individual event, as well as part of your Relay team. Relay team fees are based on a team of 5 participants. On Race Morning, you will wear your individual event number (Half or Full Marathon) on the front of your shirt, and your relay timing belt. You will pass on your Relay timing belt at the first Relay Exchange Station, and then continue in your individual event. Please note that your Start Time is 7:00 a.m. (with the Full/Half Marathon runners), instead of the usual 7:10 a.m. Relay start.

I've left my Runner Bib at home, and it's Race Day. Am I okay to run?
No. If you are running without a visible Runner Number, course marshalls will remove you from the course. You certainly will not be allowed to enter University Stadium without a Runner Number. If you don't have a chip, you will not be registered electronically at the Start or Finish Line, and there will be no results recorded for you.

Cancellation/Dropping Out/Changing Events

I am injured/unready and will not be able to complete the marathon. What should I do?
Entry fees are not refundable or transferable. However, if you are fit for a shorter distance run, we would be happy to change your individual entry to another individual event so that you can still participate in our Father's Day event - at the Start Line that's right for you.** Entry changes may be done in-person at the Manitoba Maratho Office until Monday, June 10 or at the Manitoba Marathon Expo on June 14th and 15th at late registration. We will need a newly completed entry form for your new event. There is a $20 change fee (plus any event fee increases, if applicable).

My training has gone better than I expected. Can I change events beforehand?
Yes. And well done! Check the previous question for deadlines and fees.

I'm registered to run 26.2 miles, but I'd like to keep my options open. Can I switch over to the Half Marathon at the Mile 6 course split, if things aren't going well?
No. Your Chip identifies you as a marathoner, and any runner switching over to the Half and crossing the finish line will destroy our race results. Our course marshals will not allow Full Marathoners on to the Half Marathon course under any circumstances. If you are having a rough day, remember that we have an Exit with Dignity system, which allows you to drop out at any Hospitality Station. Let a volunteer know you are dropping out, and if required, they can arrange for transportation back to University Stadium.
